So, the Weston Potato Festival is now past for another year. It seems attendance at the small festivals I go to is down. Do you suppose technology has a play into that venue as it does with so many others? Not only are many choices of Craft Shows, Bazaars, and Festivals available, but more and more sites appear on the internet for handcrafters and artists to sell our wares WORLDWIDE! As we become less social and direct interaction becomes more rare, is that the way we must go?
Many of us attend bazaars, not just to sell, but we thrive on the reaction we receive from customers. We are thrilled if someone likes what we have created and we learn from comments of those willing to share a constructive comment, as well. However, what we see often are people just passing by without even pretending to look or see. Why do they come? What draws them out? If anyone has a secret formula to help keep these events alive----and well-----please share it. It would be rather sad to see, yet, one more activity go by the wayside. But, just so you know, it is becoming more and more tempting to join the many turning to technology and see what happens. That's a whole new ballgame! Maybe it beats, packing up all your efforts, loading them into your car, hauling them into the venue, setting them all up, sitting for a few hours being a sales person, instead of creating, and then turning around and repeating that whole process to take most of it back home and find a place to store it until next time.
Would all that time be better spent learning to navigate the internet?
