I am disturbed by policies that occur "behind the scenes," in the format one uses to create our posts, our stats are posted, and the statics that we see, etc. Having noted that Porn Sites attach themselves to our Blogs behind the scenes and learning "that it doesn't mean anything," -----"just ignore it," etc from the forums after no response when sending feedback directly to "Google," perhaps the only recourse is to not be a party to such practices. Not that I profess to be a perfect person, never having made a multitude of personal bad choices and mistakes, however, we have to decide where we draw a line. I'm deciding.....after all, it is actually an ego thing to write, desire affirmation. I would like that affirmation for my art, to sell a few items and make space to create more, but how to do that is elusive. Maybe there is a better way.

Let's start with chickens! Ms. Daisy, featured above, survivor above and beyond. Here she is, Wishing All a Merry Christmas and a Survivor New Year!
This girl still has issues regarding those five amigo's from days past, but they have all learned to exist together dispite their differences! Imagine? A feat that seems rather illusive to most humans---and who dares to say "chickens are stupid?" We could learn a thing or two, I believe. I am grateful for my ladies and the lessons they share!

Next: The woes of online addiction!! So easy to allow ourselves to get "sucked in." Know I do. Yet, regardless, I am grateful for some aspects of this modern day phenomenon! FACEBOOK--scroll, scroll, scroll. Waste energy and time thinking someone cares whether I like, or don't; what my opinion might be. Is it going to change the "big picture?" Most likely, not! YET.....my goodness, there are those online connections we seem to achieve! We can find others to relate with, and to, in positive ways and do our best to keep it that way in those circles. Refreshing and comforting. We can find sources for supporting things we believe in and share those avenues with others if they care to join in. I like that.

Anyone of us can form a Facebook group. But.....there are many, many groups on line!! I am finding it easier to participate and really am grateful for someone willing to take of their own valuable time to be an administrator of said group. One in particular that I have found and greatly appreciate is:
Country Farmhouse Chicken Decor & More
Phill AndAmber Treat, with Amber being the "hostess with the mostess," in my opinion. She has garnered a whole following of participants who seem to share the philosophy of positive, uplift, share and care all centered around handmade, handcraft and art!! As a result of this group a real sense of connection, yes, connection online has developed. Thank you, ladies (I have not noted a male presence, except as in supportive roles) for keeping this site a place to go to and remain repectful and kind to one another. We all know we have our personal views, tribulations, prejudices, etc but this is just a NICE place!!
What fun we just had with Amber iniating a "Twelve Days of Christmas" event for anyone signed into the group. Twelve came away with an added Christmas present!! I love my mug from Liz Johnson Pottery!!

In addition, (now that my composition tools have fouled) I did want to mention that as a result of that group, many listings were added to the "easy access networking" page!! And you know what? I did some shopping from a few of those individuals. Nothing but good to say about my experiences with any of the vendors. Each was prompt, carefully packaged and usually had a small little surprise tucked in. Not that that should be an expectation....just an added touch I was grateful for and we don't find in Big Box settings.

Now, shall end this year on that note and hope we can all find Gratitude in a New Year.
Wishing everyone well--Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978546864292963600noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6527079621784409726.post-30789529705792738622018-12-01T16:30:00.000-08:002018-12-01T16:31:19.096-08:00Bright Lights?????

Having used the "easy access networking" page offered I can attest to the fact that I, personally, have come away a very satisfied customer! Did a little scrolling down the list, used link of selected vendors and wa la--those vendors were amazing! No fuss, no muss. All items arrived promptly, packed so carefully with handcrafted love. Delighted to find some surprize little extra tucked among their wrappings as an added touch showing their appreciation. Now that is special, don't you think? I highly recommend (and urge) taking advantage of this extra page I chose to add to this blog. It continues to grow as I encounter more individual handcrafting vendors.

Now...if per awful chance, you should try this and do come across an issue, please advise me. I can hit the "deleat" key as the intent is to continue an atmoshere of "sharing and caring." We must play fair and be gracious.

"Blather." Am borrowing that fun word. It will fit this post well. Our experience at the above establishment last evening has left me with the urge to "blather." I saw that word in one of their posts referencing a term used by Mr. Tim, one of the proprietors and the main chef, at the Upper Crust. His Scottish brogue was delightful and just look at the graciousness to which we arrived for our special Anniversary dinner! Can you imagine? How many times have you pulled up to a Restaurant and been greeted at the door in such a manner?

That gracious manner did not end as the door closed behind us. The elegant atmosphere within, only complements this couples' manner of service. We were alone! They had accepted our reservation, minus any other patrons!! We were lavished with service!! Seated at the beautifully set, full service table for two! (Hoping we would use the proper fork/spoon at the proper time--not that I think they would have minded, if not.) With real taper candles lit and real flowers placed on every table in their intimate dining area. Can you imagine, really? Did we just place our coats on the back of the chair? No! They were taken and hung by our hosts! Were we special or what?

As drinks were offered, alcoholic or non, we chose champagne chilling in the poised elegance of a proper (bucket?) Equally poured with grace for us, by Pam, as "the chef" disappeared behind the scenes--preparing, from scratch, a four course dinner--for two!

Course #1: Fresh, healthy salad, homemade bread sticks, and sumptuous Shepard's Pie. That was just the beginning!!
Course # 2: Pam has cleared away dishes, and brings us delicious, yes, homemade, Tomato Basil Soup with a dollop of sour cream and herbs. Plus more fresh homemade bread. (Sorry, I had eaten half before thinking to take a photo!)
Course # 3: Oh my......are we needing a third course? Again, dishes cleared. I had pre-selected between pork loin roast and a special beef dinner, knowing either would be fine, whoever chose which! And, it was fine!! Oh, Oh...again, I ate. Could take a photo of my "to go" box, but.....that is not elegant. And to think.....as the dishes were cleared.....
Course #4: Almost too pretty to violate with a spoon or fork! However, silencing those admonishments from many years ago, ("no desert unless you clean your plate") we tried ever so hard to not waste a single bit of delicious! It was sooo good. I cannot even tell you what it was called! So light, airy and just plain yummy.

As the leisurely (due to the gracious hosts) evening concluded we "blathered" a bit before waddling to the car for our short ride back home on the clear not, too, cold night.

Now...just for your information, this was an occasion. We do not indulge ourselves very often, but now we have an Anniversary memory! Special, huh?

Also, not all occasions need to be a full four course dinner. We can drop by for lunch someday for another taste of that wonderful Shepard's Pie, maybe a salad or other tasty, homemade tidbit. We learned they, also, do Pizza! Do we recommend Upper Crust!! Indeed, we do. Please do!! Check them out on Facebook or call: 360 229-1942 . Kick back Sunday. "Blathering." Isn't that a neat word?

Dinner decided, thawing homemade Spaghetti Sauce we put by when the garden was in full swing. Did you know, making spaghetti sauce with garden fresh tomatoes is different than when you use canned tomatoes bought from the store? One must compensate someway or it turns out watery! Live and learn, even when we are old!! Contemplating making a from scratch bread to go with that saucy sauce.

Also, contemplating wandering into "my room" to finish preparing a couple collages that are already entered into "The Big." An open to all Art Exhibit that begins on December 7th and remains up until January 26, 2019 at Art Center East in LaGrande, Oregon. There will be "a festive opening reception from 6 to 8p.m. on Friday, December 7th. Alas, very doubtful we will make the reception. It will require another trip of approximately 60 miles (after delivery the 28th) over the terrain known as "Cabbage Hill," to LaGrande, Oregon from our location. Locals know this can be a bit dicey during unpredictable winter weather! Just think it might be fun to participate in an exhibit of this caliber--a bucket list desire, if you will. My good friend and I are encouraging one another to step out of our "comfort zone." She, too, has entered!! So, if you should be in the area, not just because we made the choice to enter, but for all involved, if you have the time and the desire, Art Center East is open Monday-Friday, 10:00am to 4:00p.m. and Saturday from noon until 4:00. This exhibit is upstairs in the restored 1913 Carnegie Library Building @ 1006 Penn Avenue, LaGrande, Oregon USA.

A few little things

It's one thing to talk about that "easy access networking" page and another one to use it......I did a little shopping! Certainly will not support anyone's household, but the theory that "every little bit helps," hopefully, will brighten these independent entrepreneurs days just a bit. And...I must say, of each of them, the attention to detail, the promptness of response and efforts put forth are impressive!
A sincere thank you to each person that filled that tiny order for me and the gracious manner presented by each of you, even though, it was only a "little bit."

Keep in mind now that time seems to speed up during the holidays and before we know it, we have missed an opportunity to purchase that something we had been thinking about. "You snooze, you loose!" Like.....that adult bib I was going to buy (for me) at that Bazaar....and did not! Thus, food stains continue to appear on my front section. Yes, sloppy is me.

Now, since I, too, create, this afternoon some time was spent cleaning up the 'shelves' in the "shop." That online shop my son-in-law helped me set up prior to his untimely death. Little did he know how difficult figuring that out would be for me! However, managed to update what is currently available after going to a few local Bazaars. The bane of these online shops and the templates offered would appear to be shipping! The options available certainly don't allow one to simply offer only the actual cost of shipping for whatever is ordered. Wish there was a way around that in order to be more fair. If anyone knows of such, please be sure to advise me.....would really like to know!
In the meantime, if you think something in my store might be of interest please don't hesitate to let me know.
It is that "every little bit" that inspires us and keeps us creating.

Have decided to enter a couple larger pieces into a genuine Art Show. A bucket list decision.
Art Center East, in LaGrande, Oregon is hosting the event called "The Big" which is open to artists of all colors, lol. It begins December 7th with an opening reception and runs through January 26, 2019! A good friend is, also, entering so should be a fun venture. Since we have to travel a few miles in possible winter conditions into the Blue Mountains of Oregon into LaGrande am hoping it will not be a fool hardy adventure......after all there are art venues all around....but this sounds sooo inviting!

One more event prior to Christmas for me. The Holiday Market again at the Fairgrounds is Walla Walla, Washington will be Saturday, December 8th featuring HANDMADE only. Hours are 9:00a.m. - 4:00p.m. With that....will wish all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday, Happy New Year..whatever, political correctness suits you. There are all the various ways to celebrate the season and all deserve respect in my humble opinion. Celebrate our uniqueness and respecting each other would be a Happy New Year to begin!

Take good care until next time. Stay well and warm.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978546864292963600noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6527079621784409726.post-38534575596851608952018-11-15T13:39:00.000-08:002018-11-15T13:39:43.355-08:00Opps!

Whew! Almost ran out of time here.....for this post. Christmas Trio Gift & Craft Show begins tomorrow at 10:00am until 5:00pm. Repeat on Saturday, from
9:00am until 4:00pm. Now, of course, this is for local residents. Would not expect anyone to travel great distances especially when almost every part of the country and beyond is experiencing the BAZAAR SEASON! A great way to do holiday shopping for items that are usually handmade by crafters or artists! What better way to support your friends and neighbors in their small businesses? So, please do come by the Walla Walla, Washington County Fairgrounds tomorrow (Friday) and (Saturday) for another unique shopping opportunity!
The above are pine needle ornaments fresh made this past week to perhaps decorate your own tree. Also, replenished a few alcohol ink coaster sets which sell for $18.00 per set of 4 plus a free alcohol ink magnet! If interested in purchasing online, please be sure to visit "the store!"
Once again, remember the "easy access networking" page offering a wide selection of handmade items for sale from individuals devoted to doing what they love....and hoping to support their efforts! It is amazing what is offered and time is running out in order to ship for Christmas!!
Psst....I have a couple items on their way from the list! It's pretty easy!! Need to go back and place a couple more orders before time runs out.....Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978546864292963600noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6527079621784409726.post-91462237697296087512018-11-05T12:22:00.001-08:002018-11-05T12:22:03.619-08:00Next UpSorry, likely for locals only, unless you want to hussle into a road trip!

Count down for the 38th Annual Mary Stewart Christmas Craft Sale, this coming Friday and Saturday, November 9th and 10th! Where, you say? Milton-Freewater, Oregon at the Community Building on 5th Street from 9:00a.m. until 4:00p.m. This is HANDMADE only, which includes "upcycled or remade." So if you are seeking Commercial items this sale is not for you.
Rhonda Sartin will be in the kitchen to serve breakfast and lunch so no need to hurry away if you become hungry!
The building is filled with vendors that labor with love to create items unique and special to brighten your day or be that one of a kind gift for holiday giving.
As a vendor, when someone purchases items I have made it is a gift to me! Not only does it encourage me to create more, it enables me to buy necessary supplies to do so. Since creating is a form of therapy for me...it's that gift that "keeps on giving," so to speak! lol
Tis The Season......enjoy and be well.
Here in Adams town, in Eastern Oregon, today would certainly be considered a "bad hair day!" Wind is up and tumbleweeds are flying. Perhaps, along with a number of other things.
Good day to sip coffee, and catch up.
Spent a bit of time in "my room," this week. Love being sent to "my room!" Finally, after a long struggle with a collage that I began some months ago, put some final touches on it that feel alright. It debuted on Facebook already, but at the risk of redundancy, here it is again! Native American has always held a place in my heart, a longing and wishful feeling deep within. Chief Joseph's image has called to me more than once.....and a connection with wildlife is very appealing to my well being, as well. Thus, a combination titled, "Kindred Spirit."

"Kindred Spirit"
Mixed media collage
8" x 10"
unframed canvas/finished sides

Now on to other things.....since my oils were out, brushes ready and a couple more Bazaars around the corner, why not a few Christmas ornaments? Replace a handful of alcohol ink magnets since I offer 1 free with the purchase of a set of 4 alcohol ink coasters.
Only a few days left until the Annual Mary Stewart Christmas Bazaar in Milton-Freewater, Oregon. December 9th & 10th from
9:00 - 4:00 in the Community Building on 5th Street. Handmade only, with a variety of vendors that love to create. It is always nice when patrons appreciate the efforts of those dedicated to originality and understand the 'behind the scenes' process required.
Hopefully, those of you living nearby will stop by for a visit and perhaps find something unique to give as a gift or that you, yourself, would like to own.

Now, if you are not local....undoubtedly wherever you might be, the Holiday Season brings forth your own selection of worthy craftspersons and artisans. Hopefully, you will be able to attend and find special items that appeal to you.
Of course, now that the "easy access networking" page (above) is more orderly and continues to grow, you, also, might like a cup of coffee or tea and sit in your favorite chair to see what you might find among these shops listed. Know that
this list is exclusive to HANDMADE only.
Of course, there is a place for commercial--it just isn't here.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978546864292963600noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6527079621784409726.post-42506035576726280102018-10-24T17:10:00.001-07:002018-10-24T17:10:34.113-07:00Add & Subtract--ho & hum....

The latest finished pieces that will be heading out with me this coming Saturday
to the Weston Potato Festival in Historic Weston, Oregon. The doors open at 9:00a.m. for vendor sales and activities. A potato featured lunch will be available downstairs at the Memorial Hall, along with the usual book sale. Being a community event of long standing this is one of the nicer events to help kick off the Bazaar season. Bingo throughout the day, a raffle to help raise money for the school, etc, help round out day long activity which ends at 4:00p.m. Hope to say "hello" there!
Next up will be the Annual, "Mary Stewart Christmas Bazaar" Friday, November 9th & Saturday, November 10th from 9:00a.m. until 4:00p.m. in Milton-Freewater, Oregon at the Community Center on 5th Street. A variety of handcrafted only, artisans and crafters offer their wares for holiday, or any day, giving or keeping!! Lunch will be available so no need to hurry away.
The final show for myself this year, will be Saturday, December 8th, from 9:00a.m. until 4:00p.m. The 2018 Holiday Market at the Walla Walla, Washington Fairgrounds (Community Building) is another venue for "Handmade Only." Personally, these are the only type shows that I wish to attend.....let's not mix unique with commercial is my own mantra.
That's why the "Easy Access Networking" page offers only links to those vendors that work hard to create something unique and individual!! There are soooo many wonderful artisans working from their studio.....or their kitchen table.....
to fulfill their passion for creating! It really is worthwhile to visit these sites to see the variety of offerings and perhaps lend a bit of support to their endeavors and fulfillment to a dream. In creating the page, I continue to find some amazing items and hope to help support some of them when I consider shopping. Please re-visit the "easy access networking" page often. Not only do I find new friends to add, but as they create remember, they, too, add to their inventory!
On that note....after a bit of research it seems possible to visit my own online store directly----no fuss, no muss by simply entering the following link:
Suncatcherjo No need to go through the Website!! Actually, am thinking on removing that site and sticking to original thought of Blog=Store!!
Have you heard of "overthinking?" Seems that tendency has set up a room in my brain! Moving "overthinking" out and moving "rethinking" in!
Be well and enjoy......

"Forewarned is forearmed," so the saying goes.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Expecting a lengthy wait at an appointment for my husband to have a skin cancer removed last week, rushing from the house (only a wee behind schedule) I grabbed a book to occupy the time. Remember the "Foxfire" Series? A couple have remained in the bookcase for who knows how long! Picked up from time to time, put back, occasionally dusted and perhaps waiting to be read once again. They are keepers!
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">As I opened the first pages of Foxfire 4, starting at the Introduction by Eliot Wigginton, who began Foxfire magazine in 1966, it occurred to me personally, how profound his insight was then and how profound now if put into play. Undoubtedly it is somewhere, somehow. I just am not up to date. Are Foxfire books still being published? I will have to "ask google" won't I? In no way do I wish to plagiarize his words/wisdom, but so compelled to share a few of his words. Thus, lots of quotation marks that hopefully will not lose the context of his words! Or my intent!
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">"Linkages. Moments when lives intersect and combine to the eventual enrichment of both. We are not--and must not be--isolated if we are to grow."
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Leading into........"new friends outside our region unselfishly opened doors, linked us up with friends of theirs, and so the network grew." ........"selfish acceptance of that generosity was our obligation to take some of that energy and pass it on to others beyond ourselves in ways we had never tried before."
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I believe this issue was published in 1977, YET, fast forward to today. NOW there is this thing called the internet! A whole new platform but the same concept could make the world a better place in my opinion. With all the division, strife and malcontent we face, reading these words and the way I interpret them, was a breath of fresh air! He goes on to say....."We are a multicultural world, and we are all linked one to another, for better or for worse." As he worked with his students expanding their program it appears his goal was/is to......"establish linkages that would move them more actively beyond their own community in terms of understanding and sensitivity." WOW.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I hope that in breaking up the order of these quotes, that the context has not been altered nor misused. Not my intent, at all. It just struck me, that this is the direction some of the recent postings with connections wants, so greatly, to do! That "sharing is caring" attitude has a common thread among many that I appreciate.....and hope to promote along with them. Of course, our field is narrowed. We are crafters/artisans but it does reach beyond.......a sense of goodness is felt here. Could it be? Do you think it might be so? Serious thoughts, deep thoughts, deserve a lol, kind of a day. To an extent perhaps? My own deep thoughts aren't quite so harsh if a little humor is allowed to creep in. Amazing it is/has taken all these years of growing old for those thoughts of lol to even enter this weary brain.

On a lesser note, am I the only one that needed to actually research the meaning of OOAK? Now upon knowing the answer, that is lol moment! (Nothing at all to do with some sort of oak tree!) Actually so fits into my basic philosophy with this silly Blog! "ONE OF A KIND." Get it? Or, had you, already got it? So simple that it is definitely a LOL! Now....of course, this should not enter the category of "deep thought," but remember"lol" does help lighten that load immensely!

Moving on.....Craft Festival numero 1, on the horizon now for me. October 27, 2018---9:00 until 4:00 in the quaint, little town of Weston, Oregon. Of course, unless local this is of no consequence to some readers. It is called "Potato Festival" and was established many years ago apparently when potatoes were a major crop for this area. Now, there is a nearby event called "Wheatstock!" How times change--lol! But.....Potato Fest lives on, as traditions often do. It is a fun event and very community spirited.
Most vendors participating are OOAK producers! I like that myself. Certainly fit the label with my own creative endeavors. You are likely to see that label from now on if you follow this. OOAK = "one of a kind."

I have been busy and have some (sorry) OOAK alcohol ink coaster sets available that could make for a nice gift this holiday season! No two alike! Of course, a collage should be OOAK. Have those, too! Some oil painting on rustic surfaces, etc. Hope to see a good turn out for this festival.

Have 14 coaster sets ready to go. Preview below....there are some odds and ends as sets have been split in the past. Since these seem to be the "go to item" for gifts will not bore you with other photos which likely have appeared in the past.

First, I have been working!
Next: Today was spent re-doing, adding and making that "Easy Access Networking" page look neat and clean!
With the holiday season approaching, if you love handcraft and original works, (aside from attending your local Fairs and Bazaars) please consider fixing yourself a nice cup of tea, open this page and look at all these handmade artisan's wares! Rather than rushing out to load all those commercial items into a shopping cart, consider supporting these small, independent folks. We all love what we do, put our hearts into the items and truly appreciate offering them for sale. You will find quality items here.
If you are an artisan/crafter with a http://www. listing and would like to be included just let me know. Not meaning to be offensive, but ABSOLUTELY no commercial sites, please. There is a place for them and it is not my intent to find them here!

Now......this is simply, PLAY! I am scared silly of watercolor. However, a friend makes wonderful cards using them. She brought me a book, "Paint Yourself Calm," (yes, I can use that!), "colorful

creative mindfulness through watercolor." It is very encouraging and (lol) makes it look simple! Of course. I cheat. Had to go 50 steps ahead instead of sticking with the wonderful, relaxing exercises. But, you know what? It was still fun. Looks like more supplies need to be stocked. Actual watercolor paper and paints beyond the kindergarten variety might have different results. Plus, just a wee bit of practice.

Then today, I saw the neatest thing to look up and try. It's called "collograph printing." Now many of those supplies, are already on hand, stashed away in my room! Leaves, moss, bark, feathers, grasses, etc. Of course, sounds like papers, inks or paint, plus ????? might be necessary. Have to check that out.

Artsy again feels good! Plus it is a good thing too, as have signed up to participate in three local craft shows/baazars this season. If you are from this area, (as happens everywhere), there are many events to attend to look for holiday, or other day gifts. Perhaps something for yourself because you deserve it.

October 27th Weston Potato Show from 9:00 to 4:00 in the community of historic Weston, Oregon. An annual small festival with vendors, a potato luncheon, book sale, and fund raising for the local school. Or, enter your best garden potato, veggies, flowers, baked goods, etc to win a ribbon!

November 9th & 10th Annual Mary Stewart Christmas Craft Sale. 9:00 to 4:00 both days. Milton-Freewater Community Building. Milton-Freewater, Oregon. Rhonda Sartin will be serving breakfast & lunch so patrons can stay and browse many vendors that sell handcrafted only items. Of course, that includes "upcycled and remade items." No commercial! My kind of show. As many of you know, competing with mass produced products is next to impossible. In fact, I choose only from the few shows that apply that type of ruling. It lets people know up front the quality of items they might purchase. Might limit attendance, but not sales.

December 8th Holiday Market 9:00 to 4:00.

Walla Walla (Washington) Fairgrounds Community Building. Another "handmade only" venue. These ladies make it a fun event and it is the largest show I attend. There are a variety of vendors, so many unique items are available.

Hookie, Dookie. That's a wrap for this time. Thank you, for stopping. Will be posting more as once again, we approach this Holiday Season. Where did the time go?

Pageantry from the Pendleton Round Up
In this neighborhood, this is the week of the World Famous Pendleton Round Up. It is a sight to behold at least one time, (I have been more often,) unless you happen to be following the Rodeo Circuit or a specific person, I imagine. Personally, I love the pageantry presented by the Native American's. Thus, a couple of photo's to give a hint, although by far, not the best representation. Many of the regalia were worn by ancestors and passed down. Others are designed and worn during ceremony by their current owners. All undoubtedly represent hours and hours of craftsmanship to complete.
Not to slight all the incredible cowboys, performers, and even the stock animals brought to an event of this magnitude, it is fitting to say all give it their best with preparation, endless time and apparently devotion.
And......quite possibly, facing danger and damage,ie injury! Below are from a previous rodeo at Helix, Oregon.

Decided to share a piece of the locale while fresh in my mind, having been invited by my son to take in one segment of Pendleton's Show yesterday. Hope you enjoy this different sort of 'Art & Craft.'
Time is approaching for the Christmas Bazaars to begin preparation. Intend to participate in a couple of the local ones and do need to return to my room in order to accomplish that. Anyone else in the same dilemma? Like we have not been keeping up with our ourselves?
Therefore, tune in from time to time for more frequent updates.
Until then, do stay safe and take good care.
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Know the weather patterns have varied for nearly all, from pouring buckets in some places to scorching, burning heat and all things in-between. And climate change is not real, so some say.
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Well, here where we live never did we give a thought to the danger of beautiful wheat fields all around, especially the one right out our back door. Now, as it dries more and more with each day, we think.....and worry. Of course, the farmer was here first and we need farms. Fires we do not! The speed of a wheat fire is amazing. Lucky again this year. Rotations put a bit of space between with a small area of green peas planted. Believe me when I say a garden hose would be of little help in a wheat fire. As harvest continues in these temperatures we see plumes of smoke around and feel so sorry for anyone near.
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Now, with one eye looking out and the other in, a big coiling project left for it's new home at my niece's house. She has been waiting years for her Mount Rainier painting and loves the coiling so you know that ole saying, catch "two birds with one stone." (I never would "kill" a bird!) Will post a photo of finished product once it reaches her wall!

Really have nothing to report from the studio. Presently, most of our attention has been devoted to our six lovely hen ladies. We have been introduced to "bumblefoot." Yes, "bumblefoot." You other chicken mama's (and daddy's) likely know this unpleasant term. Our chicken mansion became an infirmary a few days ago and we continue to make rounds to see how the girls are doing.
This certainly has been an experience. The internet has been sooo beneficial. So far, so good thanks to being able to look up natural remedies and finding the information for non-invasive treatment on "Tilly's Nest." The step by step instructions and photo's she provides made us feel it was something we must attempt. Coupled with an herbal salve recipe, also, found on the web, we now have all six girls confined with those nasty barnacle looking knots removed and bandages on their feet.
I regret that we were unaware of our girls "bumblefoot" until we had a problem! We had cleaned their poo laden feet with wire cutters, when we brought them home and thought all was well. Awhile back I did notice "Molly" rested a lot. Well, it was not because she was tired! Her "dogs" were swollen and hurting! Then we began having shell less eggs. We asked who done it to no avail. Next, a couple girls actually acted strange and not too well. Inspection time! Oh MY GOODNESS! Can you believe five out of six had those ugly lumps on both feet? "Daisy" escaped this malady! Do you suppose it was karma??
Amazingly, once we managed to catch each one, they rather enjoyed the special treatment. (I told them they were at the Spa.) Foot soaks, being crooned to, lovingly stroked while we worked on those poor little feet. Once done, I told them they had "new shoes" as we salved, wrapped and bandaged those tender toes.
No solitary confinement since everyone was in the same boat, or boot as you would have it. Their mansion was squeaky clean, fresh chips on the floor and there they remain in recovery. Oddly, each one seemed to feel better immediately. Although shell less eggs do not appear to be associated with this condition, (possible calcium deficiency?) we have not had one in three days! Note, egg production is not quite at full swing.
The girls eat organic layer feed, a treat of herbs/greens/sunflower seeds, etc., (no meat.) They have grit, was recycling their shells by crushing, now using oyster shell. Soooo.... we have our fingers crossed that we did "good." Like I said, so far.......
That's chicken saga for today--cross your fingers, too!

Really, there is a 'statement' in there!

Mentioning our chicken girls seems to have taken a back burner! We still have, "Molly, Shy, Freida, Itty Biddy, Minnie & DAISY!" For the most part (I said, most part) they have co-habitated, sort of......except "Poor Daisy" remains somewhat of an outcast. Oddly, being on a roost seems to provide a safe zone! No one picks on her when they are roosting or on the roost. Go figure. If any chicken mama's out there know, please share information! The problem with that, of course, is the "five amigo's" wait for her feet to hit the floor and then she is fair game! We shield her so she has a chance to feed and drink, but poor Daisy does not venture outside into their enclosed pen, and spends most of her leisure time high and dry! We recently began finding an egg without a shell, or very soft shelled. Suspect, poor Daisy might be tired of her status and her anxiety has again become an issue. Or....since we do not live in their coop and are not present to make sure she has adequate time to eat, maybe she is malnourished???? Maybe, it is not even Daisy! Everyone appears otherwise healthy and we feed them carefully.
Anyway, yesterday Daisy spent her day in the portable again. She pecked and pecked, had plenty of feed and water and rested happily. When bedtime came I carried her back to the mansion, safely to the roost and a good night was had by all. We hustled at the crack of dawn to see if we could, at least, begin to solve the mystery of who did what! Nope, too, late. But.....the one and only semblance of an egg at that point did have a somewhat more distinct form of shell.
Daisy we returned to her own little world, in her own little portable until bedtime tonight. If she produces a perfect egg today....will our mystery be solved? NOOOO...we have five more girls! Thus, alas, back to the WHO DONE IT square?

And then there is "Bud," our indoor cat----outside.

Stories, you can imply stories or messages with all those bits and pieces when creating a collage. Just keep layering it on. A little suggestion here, and a little suggestion there. Find some quotes, or create your own to add to a layer. Placement can lead a viewer into your story or message, or maybe they will see their own version. Whichever, it is just plain inspiring for me.
Stores soooo much stuff plus allows for some display. Thank you, my sweet hubby!

Nice to have an organized space even for a little while. Due to all the "hoeing" and eliminating of make shift storage a yard sale is in order now! Strange how one discovers "stuff" we have hidden away for years (after usually, packing and dragging it around from place to place) that eventually, we decide we can live without.
I decided, being of the age I am, that most likely my life span will not last long enough to utilize all that saved
"stuff." Too many projects, so little time."

Hopefully, someone out there will need exactly the "stuff" that went into the yard sale pile! It did serve me well and still has life left! Several funky items used as furniture? by myself. Art supplies, craft supplies. Then, Donald has decided to thin out some of his excess around here, as well. He has that boat motor, maybe a gemstone trim saw and polisher, miscellaneous tool things. We have a Radio, CD combination player, suitcases, solid oak coffee table with matching end tables, office chair, etc. Won't say,"too much to list," just too lazy to list everything, nor have we even found it all. So, heads up for next Saturday & Sunday if you are in the neighborhood of Adams, Oregon! Want directions, email for specifics!

What's in the works......more collage. Nearly three more ready to display. Will post soon. Thinking it might be interesting to see if maybe, even I, could get these shown somewhere of substance. Maybe a "bucket list thought" just for fun.

And really, I know......yes, sweet Cheryl, must get back to basket coiling. Promise, promise! It was getting close. Then there is the other one for a very nice lady who has been so patient with me. No inventory, whatsoever on pine coiled items! Even with all the intent and ideas afloat in this "monkey mind." Why, why, why I wail to myself. Which seemingly falls upon ears that are plugged.

Still adding to our networking page, so please do take a look from time to time to see what others are up to.

Thank you, for stopping by or for following this Blog. It is appreciated. Until next time, stay safe and be well.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12978546864292963600noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6527079621784409726.post-35417750235371393102018-05-28T20:09:00.000-07:002018-05-28T20:09:43.641-07:00Hoeing Out that room!Has your studio or craft room ever become so cluttered that you just could not stand it any longer? Well, mine did! It doesn't feel very good to discover that YOU qualify as a hoarder. Yes, there was so much stuff, stuffed into my room that claustrophobia finally caught up. Boy, thankfully, a "before" photo is unavailable. There are witnesses available, however, that there is a real difference now.
All the miscellaneous, make do, odds and ends, that made up my storage are ready to be someone else's treasures.....or make do's. I have a huge hand built hutch made of funky barn wood! Could not locate what I wished for to buy, so with the cooperation of my handy hubby, (who agreed to let me be boss of what I wanted since he likes shiny, modern lines) the hutch now stands in my room.

Six and one half feet tall became no simple task to move from our garage up onto the deck, into the house, down the hall, and then stand up in my room! As you can see,
Don still has hammer in hand. That was so he could reassemble parts that sort of.....fell off on our trip! Believe that experience could classify as a real "comedy of errors!" After all, we are not spring chickens!
It will have barn wood doors up to the third shelf once hinges are purchased and messed up to approval. The doors will cover storage of supplies and what sticks, shells, pods, moss, papers, etc that remain. It was a difficult decision to part with all those treasures that had just the right look. Much self talk convinced me that, mostly, an adventure could be had if necessary to acquire something that is missing. Whew.... it does feel better, I think.
I have been busy<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Mid May already. Thinking we still have April showers, that are bringing May flowers, making the garden grow and let's me stay inside and be creative! However, the sun is missed but we are promised a very nice Mother's day weekend ahead. Thus, wishing any Mother's that read this a lovely day.
Then let's add a couple new collage, because they are just plain fun for me. Never, never throw anything away. At least, for mine that is. Sometimes it is easy to slip into a rut and just plug along doing the same old thing. A variation can be stimulating.
Saturday, I (sort of) forced myself to sign up for a writing class at the Pendleton Art Center. Occasionally, I have been known to jot down a few thoughts or write what I thought to be a poem or prose. Always felt intimidated by vague memories of high school English and the study of poetry. The different structures, rules and regulations! Guess what? Throw them out!! We can write what we want!!
Feeling a slight urge to get back to the "my life" art journal begun sometime ago (probably mentioned in Blog) I thought this class would spur me on. Time will tell, but can say it was good for me. Penelope Scamby Schott, an Oregon poet was the instructor and it was beneficial. Not only did it encourage self examination,
(ouch) but was freeing!
Meanwhile, back in the studio (craft room) too many projects are laying in wait! Tends to begin to make me feel smothered. (Guess that's one of the purposes of "getting out," or so I just read!) Perhaps that will provide the inspiration to get in there and instead of starting another project-finish, at least, one?
Did post on Facebook the progress on the pine needle coiled, decorative piece that I first oil painted the center for, and am currently working upon. Not intending to be redundant, but here is a photo......
This is destined to go to my sweet, kind niece who has waited and waited many years, yes years--for me to fulfill her request for a painting of Mt. Rainier. Suppose it is rather 'lame' to "kill two birds with one stone," by combining it with her liking the pine coiling, as well, isn't it?
Until next time, enjoy the sun and May flowers. As our weather improves, creative juices are thinking about restarting for me. The possibilities of what to either finish....or start are many. What if I want to do it all? What about that 'other stuff'? You know, eating, making the bed, dishes, sweep, dust, vacuum, spending time with my girls (chickens,) speaking if spoken to,etc. So many possibilities for interruptions and breaking that magic spell or flow (if so lucky as to have a magic flow.) OHHHH.....see what is happening here? Sabotage!! Yep, that's it. Self-sabotage. How often do we practice this? Guess I recognize it because, not only do I practice it, DO it way to often. How about you? Are you practicing or doing?
Oh, h_ll's bells. Too old to keep worrying about how much gets done. Or not done. Do what is necessary, skip the rest (sort of) and enjoy. Creating is not only enjoyment, it is therapy. I NEED a little therapy. Do you?
Here's one for you to ponder. Grabbed these at a recent yard sale. Why? Possibilities. Creative possibilities, no less. Do you see it? If not stay tuned and see what happens.
Way back when, sometime ago, I posted the center of this pine needle coiled piece that I had painted for the day when I would get around to it! Well, you can see in the above photo that finally that day came, although this shows it just before it was complete. A couple more rows were added with a slight upturn and the final backstitching to make it complete before taking it as a donation to the auction spoke of previously. Just wished to let anyone that does follow the blog know that, once in awhile, a long overdue project does reach completion! Whew.......scratch that off the "to do" list.
Currently I am working on another pine needle coiled piece, also, with a wooden center that I painted (recently) that will go to my favorite niece.
Currently there are about 12 coils completed with a fair amount yet to go. So....if your curiosity is peaked, please tune in later for an update either on progress or perhaps even it's completion. Until next time, do take care of yourselves and enjoy the flowers to come.
